Jewish Mourning

This booklet presents basic answers to the questions Jews ask most frequently about Judaism's prescription for mourning a loved one.

I am indebted to Martin Kasdan for posing those questions, for many hours of reading and editing my responses, and for encouraging the publication of this small volume.

Part of the greatness of Judaism is the fact that it affords us concrete ways of working through our grief while, at teh same time, allowing us to demonstrate our respect and affection for those, now gone, whose lives touched ours with love and caring. Most often, as we act on those mitzvot, we ease our pain and sadness as well.
